Senior Plans

Jonathan Roger

JR is headed to THE Ohio State University for the following program; part of the Department of Biological Sciences.  "I am most interested in either cancer research or the sleep cycle (circadian rhythms)."  As referenced by VK below, JR's graduate school is funded via a generous stipend, plus tuition and fees.

(and to address the obvious question.....I did NOT ask for a sales pitch from VK)

"Living within the Coe College Tennis Team is an experience, which is very difficult to forget. It is really sad to admit, but everything that has a beginning has an end too! In that situation your only option is to move on and to continue an amazing journey by the name of life. My next step, in growing as a person and a professional in some area, is getting a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) degree in Physics at the University of Iowa. It will take me about five and a half years to get doctorate degree and I will be fully supported by the University of Iowa through the scholarship in amount equal to the tuition cost. At the same time, I will be working there both as a teaching assistant, teaching labs to undergraduates, and as a research assistant, doing research in the field of High Energy Physics. There is a question, which people not familiar with science, always ask me – how do you get paid to go to graduate school, instead of paying it yourself!? The answer is simple – come to Coe College and get the necessary knowledge and experience to succeed!"

"Coe College Physics Program is recognized as one of the best undergraduate physics programs in US. Here we do tons of research every year; independently if you are a freshman or a senior, you get to participate in cutting edge research. Also, you can go to multiple places outside of Coe, and what is often the case, you can go do research abroad. Even more than that, due to the recent NSF (National Science Foundation) grant, the science building, Peterson Hall, is being renovated (10+ million dollar project); the number of labs will be increased and the equipment will renewed."
