WT IIAC Individual Tournament

It's cold!  And windy!  Expect the same today.

Great showing from all 12 Kohawks yesterday!

Semifinals for Flight A Singles and Flight A Doubles today.

On one half of the Singles draw, Amy Sebastian will face off against top seeded Arantxa Martinez of UD.  On the other half the draw, Haley Resnick will play Jordan Ferree, thus, ensuring at least one Kohawk in the Final!

In Flight A Doubles, Haley/Sarah and top seeded Laura/Jordan remain in the draw, and on opposite halves.  Laura/Jordan will play 4th seeded Central #1.  Haley/Sarah will play 3rd seeded Wartburg #1.

The highlight of the day for me personally was watching Jordan and Sarah battle each other in a Flight A Quarterfinal.  Pure grit and mutual respect on both sides of the net!  Plus, I finally got a break from coaching.  Will admit that it felt much like a team match (awesome!) with Kohawks always on court, and fighting.  Molly's presence was a necessity; she provided guidance and warmth (her vehicle being used at the park site, and delivery of hot chocolate) all day!

Other highlights include:

-  Molly arising early Friday morning to drive 3 additional Kohawks to Pella.
-  Sarah defeating Luther #4 and 3rd seeded Wartburg #1 (avenging an ITA loss from last year) en route to her match with Jordan.
-  Tam & Diannah defeating Luther's #3 Doubles pair.
-  6th seeded Amy clinching 3rd set tiebreakers in both the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals (over Luther's #1; the 4th seed).
-  Laura defeating Wartburg's #2 strong freshman (Kuethe).
-  Jamie advancing to the 3rd round of Flight B Singles.
-  Jordan defeating Central's top player and 5th seeded, Angie Allgood, in a 3rd set tiebreaker.
-  Quarterfinal matches clinched by Jordan/Laura (8-6) and Haley/Sarah (9-8) over Luther #2 and Luther #1 (3rd seed) respectively.
-  The team and parent support/attitude throughout (despite less than ideal weather conditions).
-  A filling team dinner at Applebee's, with memorable quotes galore!
