VK & Tai


Senior Victor Khristenko and sophomore Tai Lucero were named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
 
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior Victor Khristenko (Orel, Russia) and sophomore Tai Lucero (Odessa, Texas/Permian) have been named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. They were selected on the at-large ballot.
Khristenko finished his senior season with a singles record of 19-6 and a 10-6 record in doubles play. He was 5-1 on the year when playing in the number one singles spot. Khristenko helped the Kohawks to an Iowa Conference Championship and berth in the NCAA Championships. After defeating Luther 5-4 in the Iowa Conference Tournament Championships, the Kohawks earned a first round win in the NCAA Tournament, as they beat Grinnell 5-1. Coe lost in the second round to 15th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis.  Khristenko is a three-time Academic All-Iowa Conference selection.
Lucero finished the season with a 26-2 record in singles and a 29-3 record in doubles play in the top spot. Lucero helped the Kohawks to an Iowa Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Championships. Coe opened the NCAA Tournament with a 5-4 win over Hope before falling to sixth-ranked Carnegie Mellon in the second round.  Lucero is a two-time All-Iowa Conference selection in singles and doubles. She was the 2011 Iowa Conference MVP and two-time Flight A Doubles Champion at the Iowa Conference Tournament. Lucero was named to the 2011-12 Academic All-Iowa Conference team.
Khristenko was a Physics major, while Lucero is a Biology major.
