.....I was accused this weekend of 'worrying too much"...guilty as charged! As a Head Coach, I try to prepare the Teams for what our opponents are capable of doing, not what they end up doing. Probably won't change, but will try to "lighten up"!
.....The weekend matches once again underscored how quickly first-year's "grow up" in college tennis. HUGE strides taken by all of the first-year ladies. Imagine the trend will continue on Wednesday and Sunday of this week.
.....By the way, TWO home matches this week against quality teams. Cornell on Wednesday and Luther on Sunday. Let's pack the bleachers!
.....A VK sighting this past Saturday. The ever boyish looking Victor popped into the RC with a big smile on his face and announced that he was here to "fix" Noah's game. Which I was unaware needed fixing!
.....Coach Brad got to drive the Ladies van home Sunday from the tremendous Team gathering at Janet and Chuck Schupbach's home in Cedar Falls. No word yet on how the Ladies treated Brad. Rumor has it on the drive to Waverly, Coach Kris gave a "Superfoods" lecture and exam. Wonder what Coach Brad "lectured" about?
.....Men's Tennis kicks off their short three week Fall season today at 315. Twenty-two players expected to be present once Leo gets out of class. Let's do the math....22 players, 6 outdoor courts......hmmm, pretty close to capacity, may have to ask for more outdoor courts! :)
.....Serena demonstrated, again, her great competitive skills in yesterday's US Open final winning 7-5 in the final set despite being two points from defeat. Must have been good tennis, I was driving, when I received a text from my sister who watches tennis....never! My dad also weighed in with disappointment on the outcome.
.....Unless it goes the distance, will also miss today's titanic struggle between Murray and Djokovic. If given the opportunity, watch this: you will see amazing fitness, athleticism, racquet skills and raw emotions from these two. I will caution you now; Tennis is not as easy as they make it seem! Enjoy!
